The planning and organization of the inaugural meeting-cum–symposium of the Asian Dramaturgs’ Network (ADN) that took place in Singapore 23th to 25th April 2016. A total of 21 participants from 12 countries gathered to speak, discuss and present in panels, forums and roundtables. Participants came from various dramaturgical, theatre, dance or performance backgrounds and experiences, as practitioners, academics or educators.The meeting was held in two venues: the Blackbox in Centre 42 on 23rd April, and Theatre Studio at Esplanade Theatres on 24th and 25th April, in Singapore.
A total of seven specific panel sessions were conducted over three days 23rd to 25th April that amounted to 12 hours in total as follows:
“Mapping the Terrain”.
“Talking Dramaturgy and the Dramaturg: Looking for an Asian Context?”
“Dramaturgy in Action Ⅰ- Practical Realities”.
“Dramaturgy in Action Ⅱ- Collaboration, the Interdisciplinary and the Intercultural”.
“Dramaturgy in Action Ⅲ- The Performance-maker & the Dramaturg”.
“Education, Pedagogy, Dramaturgy”.
“Producing, Programming, Dramaturgy”.
Social media platform through Facebook was also created to maximize on public visibility. A total of 865 individuals attended seven panel sessions.
