Endorsed by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), APCD has a partnership agreement with the target 3 countries (the Philippines, Myanmar and Thailand). Moreover, each government already showed their willingness to collaborate and support the idea. Furthermore, persons with autism and their parents have been one of priority groups in APCD’s activities, thus communication between APCD and target groups are very often.
The 3rd year Project aimed at promoting inclusively in sports for persons with autism and developing their athletic skills and talents. This was done by facilitating a basis of dynamic exchange between the Mekong sub-region, other ASEAN countries and Japan in commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN & 130th Anniversary of Thailand-Japan Diplomatic Relations in 2017. In addition, this event is in following with Article 30 of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities about recreation, leisure and sports as a preparatory platform for international sporting events such as the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.
