We will send volunteer athletes to Laos for the Tokyo Olympics and make an international contribution through sports. Our goal is to produce Olympic athletes, disseminate education through sports in Laos, and deepen interactions of people through local activities. We will conduct activities based on the concept, “aim for the development and strengthening of Asian sports culture that will not end in merely Japan winning a medal.” As a Laos Athlete/Coach Assistance Project, we dispatched three volunteer athletes and our group’s representative, Dai Tamesue. For three days in Vientiane from January 7 until January 9, 2017, the volunteers supervised the “Inclusive Athletic Seminar,” in which disabled and healthy people participated together. This seminar was held with the support of Asian Development with the Disabled Persons (hereinafter referred to as "ADDP"), in which a total of 25 people including 14 disabled people and 11 healthy people participated. In addition, during their stay at the site, the participants paid a courtesy visit to Ms. Sengdeuane Lachanthaboun, who is the chair of The Ministry of Education and Sport and the President of the National Olympic Committee of Laos. They reported on the activities and proposed about continuing supervision towards the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. We were able to receive her approval.

From the Organizer

The inclusive field and track workshop went smoothly and were rated highly by the participants. The participating coaches could share the training menus and methods practiced this time with ADDP, which is the cooperating organization, in addition to learning the know-how for training that both healthy people and disabled people could work on together. Our group is considering a program in which we will continuously send athletes and coaches to Laos.
