Beyond the White Box: The role of Fabrication Labs and Alternative Spaces in the development of media arts in Southeast Asia and Japan
This study focuses on the role of fabrication labs and alternative spaces in Japan and elsewhere across southeast Asia. The objective of this research is to understand how technology-related activities connect local communities. It is important to study technology from the perspective of its usage within communities because technology is a social system that is an integral part of its society and context. The research was conducted at several locations in order to better understand how the same technology is applied within these communities by way of comparing location differences.
